Bush knells - State of the Union

A very cool interactive chart analyzing word use by George W. Bush over the years in his various State of the Union addresses. You can see how certain agendas come and go, depending on what he's trying to push -- or ignore. For example, the use of the word "Iraq" has remained consistently highly used while "Afganistan" has fallen off the radar; the word "economy" fluctuates from year to year. Most interesting is how you can clearly see the two years he really made an attempt to "reform" (read: reduce government's obligations to) social security in the US.

Not sure how long this link will stay active but it's worth a look.

Porktrasher Radio

Well, it had to happen eventually: we sold out and allowed ourselves to be featured on an Indie Radio show. Unfortunately, the new record is still being mixed out west, so we couldn't give them anything off that, but they did use "Think Fast" a rocker off the first EP. Ridiculous really, our only musical qualification for being on anything is that we are definitely independent. Not awfully talented or anything, but definitely independant.

Low resolution

Is it 2007 already? Or maybe it's half over? Who can keep track? I dated something the other day not 2006, but 2005. What am I, 90?

So it's a New Year, and has anything changed? That's a bit of a high bar to set in a lot of ways, I know. I prefer my resolutions to be set at a lower level, along the lines of, you know, try not to trip on stuff so much. That said, currently I'm in my annual January Beer Embargo, where I endeavour to not drink alcohol for the month. I usually stick with it pretty well, although weekend afternoons are the toughest for some reason -- especially with my secret sin -- US football -- in playoff mode. However it's been easier on a social level, as now all my friends know it's on and, well, they just don't call. So less pressure there.

One thing that's odd about The Embargo is that I always expect I'll lose some weight over the month, but rarely do. I can't tell if this is because I just eat more cookies, or that in fact beer really doesn't have that many calories after all... ahem.
