Google's social skills

As (pretty much) everyone knows, Gmail uses keywords from the content of your emails to push ads to the page. Sometimes it yields comical results, like when I said, "You go, girlfriend!" to someone, and from then on all I got were "Looking for a new girlfriend?" and "How to know what women are thinking!" ads. But then some are just weird, and if there was a person involved in them, you'd almost be offended. For example, beside my New York Times daily news email, with its lead story on Myanmar/Burma and the disastrous situation there, there were these sponsored links:

Hm. This technology, perhaps like the geeky geniuses who created it, lacks a few social skills.
