Did another ride last night. Forgot to check the distance, but its kind of immaterial, as i have no idea how hard i actually worked. I was unable to keep up the cadence from the last ride. The average this time was high 70’s, peaking around 85. Professional racing cyclists have their cadence between 90 and 120! So i’ve got a way to go before i’m in that league. But good to have a goal. And i’m feeling better, which is, really, the main thing. Just gotta keep it up.
I just found the NASA Near Earth Object Program: Impact Risks page. Nothing like worrying about a 1/2 km sized rock hitting the earth!
I just did my second “official” workout ride on the bike in the basement. While the distance is pretty low, i did keep my cadence up above 80 for the 55 minutes i was riding. On sunday i worked on upper-body strength by doing Conor-presses (bench pressing Conor) and Rory-lifts. Unfortunately, these can not be measured for effectiveness scientifically, but they made me tired - 20 Conor presses and i don’t know how many Rory lifts… Anyway, it feels good to be exercising again! And i’ve been reducing the amount i eat, so i’m hoping to see some kind of reduction in the spare tire i’ve built-up over the past year.
Great article here about the Enertia bike. The Vectrix and Quantya are also interesting new electric bikes. But when they might get a Canadian release is anyones guess. Sigh. I’m still pining for a new motorcycle, so i might have to go with a conventional model. The KLR is still my current favourite.
As seen at Neatorama, take the following directions:
First, get the name of your band: this will be the first article title on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
Get the title of your album: the last four words of the very last quote: http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The third picture, no matter what it is, is your album cover: http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
My result is:
I hope the old one was good for you!
Everyone had a great Christmas, got to see the whole family, and do lots of visiting (and way too much eating).
What are some of the typical things i can say i want to accomplish this year? Get healthier, do a 1, 3 and 5 year plan, prepare for my year off with the boys and do more volunteer work. I’m at least starting on the health thing, i’ve got an indoor trainer for my bike. I can only hope that by making it as easy as it can possibly be to exercise i’ll actually do it. Time will tell.
New photos when i get my ass in gear and get them off the camera.
